Baked buns with meat filling are like steamed buns with filling, except you use your oven instead of a steamer. In fact, this recipe is basically a hybridization of French bread and steamed buns with filling, but you can also use the steamed buns dough recipe just as well. I'm simply partial to French bread.

So, start out by making some French bread dough. Using that, follow the directions for making steamed buns with filling (including making the filling), but instead of steaming them, put the buns on a greased cookie sheet with the seam side down, let the buns rise for a half hour to 45 minutes, and then bake them for 20 minutes in an oven preheated to 375 degrees.
