Dot's Diner

Original by Suzanne Vega, new lyrics by Katzedecimal.

I am sitting in the morning
At the diner down on Baudway
I am waiting at the counter
For the Sprite to pour the java
And he fills it only halfway
But before I even argue
He is looking out the window
At somebody coming in

"You look cold, come let me hold you."
Says the big green Sprite beside me
To the woman who has come in
She is shaking out her hair
And I look the other way
As they are kissing their hellos
I'm pretending not to see them;
Instead I pour the milk

Then the hacker by the window
Stands and readjusts her armour
She complains that she is freezing
To the TV that's beside her
And the server just ignores her
As she sharpens her katana
Then I feel like someone's watching me
And so I raise my head

Standing outside is the Virus
And I'm frightened, does she see me?
No she does not really see me, she just sees her own reflection
And she scratches at her corset and I'm trying not to notice
As she straightens out her stockings, the rain slides down her breasts.

Oh the server has a deathwish
As he tells the waiting lady
That they don't serve Virus food......
I am thinking of your voice....
And of Ghetty Prime....
Once upon a time
Before the rain began...

I finish up my java
Its time to catch the train.
