Doujinshi commentary: Burimushi

Circle:    Gomamisozui    Burimushi: Front Cover
Type:   Normal, gag doujinshi. 26 pages.
Date:   2000/8/?

This is a fun little doujinshi. My favorite parts are the strange business that goes on within the group. Quina uses hir prehensile tongue as a deadly weapon. S/he and Salamander get into a tussle, during which both of them lose their headgear. Yep, they're both bald as eggs; Salamander's hair is a wig. Later on, Quina and Salamander trade headgear, Vivi takes off his hat and offers to swap with Zidane, and Zidane freaks out. Weird, funny stuff. There are also scenes like the one in which Quina is fishing, and Vivi looks into the bait box and sees what looks like human fingers and toes.

The artwork here is pretty good, in my opinion. (I'm a sucker for anyone who can get much out of Quina and Salamander.) The pages are printed on streaked paper that reminds me of badly smeared mimeograph sheets from high school. (Well, from when I was in high school.) At first that distracted me, but I got used to it after a while. I'm glad I was able to tone that down in the scan, though.

Oh - "burimushi" is "oglop" in Japanese. "Mushi" means bug; no idea what the "buri" part is.
