French bread pizza. Sounds good, doesn't it? It is.
And it's simple and easy to make.
What you need:
You can use storebought French bread if you like,
but I prefer to bake my own.
One, fresh-baked bread is delicious, and two, I can
shape it myself. For these pizzas, I like to make hoagie
sized rolls, flattened so the top halves won't wobble
when you turn them upside down.
Once you have your bread, cut it into six-inch segments,
then slice it in half the long way, as if you were going
to make a sub sandwich. Set these, cut side up, on
a baking sheet, and preheat the oven to 350. While that's
heating up, slather tomato sauce on the bread, then
add the toppings and cheese. (I put the cheese on last
so it can hold down the other toppings.) Bake for about
20 minutes, let cool, and eat.
