Over the past eight years I have seen the musical "Cats" 14 times, thanks to the ushering program at the Fox Theater. Being a cartoonist, I did some storyboards and created character designs for many of the major Cats.

I have been hearing about a project to animate "Cats" for the past several years. First I heard that Nelvana was going to do it as a TV series; then I heard that Dreamworks had the rights to make a movie. The latest that I have heard was that the project had been shelved. I don't know if it will ever actually be done. If it is, any resemblance between the final character designs and mine will be purely coincidental, as my drawings were done in 1989 and 1990.
